& i'm still not tan enough

but i'm getting there. this blog is full of pictures. they've been requested. :) soon i'll try to post a bunch of inbetween pictures on facebook.

..

this is what i wake up to.

i can't get over how clear the water is here. it's amazing. i'm literally able to wake up in the morning, walk across the pathway, and dive right in. which, you all know, is ridiculous for me.

it's bathwater warm and so clear i can see to the bottom even when the bottom is fifteen feet below me. needless to say, i'm not the only one having fun with it.

yesterday, we didn't want to go right out to diving, so we decided to rent a kayak. we had it for three hours. even from the kayak, if we sat still, we could see the coral below us, along with fish. and, ew, slugs.

we kayaked to the bottom of the island til we saw huge rocks. what better idea than to park the kayak and jump from the rocks?

when in rome.

alex got out of the kayak first, and up onto the rocks about ten feet away. then weeks got out. i was last, as i was in the front of the kayak, holding onto the rocks with the paddle. they grabbed the rope and we decided that i would hand alex the drybag before trying to get onto the rocks-- after all, it had our cameras in it. as she stepped down the rock, she shifted her weight forward...

a little too much. her left foot came right out from under her and as her ass hit the rock, she slid down.

right into my lap. about eight feet into my lap. basically sitting in my lap.

hiiii alex. i'm glad we're friends. now we're closer.

..

alex and weeks tried looking for a spot to jump, but none were safe enough. we went back into the kayak with no pictures to be proud of.

..

after dinner, we were walking along the beach and saw these shows. thai men were spinning fire on ropes and sticks.

you can see his body in the middle of the flames. intrigued, we sat down, relaxed, had a drink and watched the show.

..

so tomorrow's goals? alex and i are going to dive. we did a bit of snorkeling today and now we're pumped and ready to go. we'll have a nice french guy that likes to hit on american girls that's about as tall as my cousin was when he was five.

fantastic. at least he can't talk to us in the water.

and if he can... how do you say... tais-toi.

and goal number two?

ha. i'll let you know tomorrow.

..

this picture is one of the reasons why alex and i feel like we're dating on this trip. candlelight dinner on the beach night after night is just starting to settle it into our brains. i guess its kinda like 1984 or brave new world, they just kind of set the atmosphere and the rest takes care of itself.

lovie you alex.

..

aaand this is what we watch as we eat dinner together.i'm not sure if anything is better than a thai sunset. or beach.

actually. i can think of something. :)

  2. Can you say two hour delay and early dismissal? We got about 4 inches of snow during the night, the light and fluffy stuff. So we had a two hour delay and we have parent conferences this afternoon so the kids have an early dismissal. That makes for 20 minutes of class. Well, at least it's a day we don't have to make up.
